OriGym’s Level 4 Personal Trainer course covers everything you need to know to effectively train clients on a one-to-one basis in a gym, fitness centre, online and more!
You will qualify with a deep and advanced understanding of a wide range of elements of fitness, from human anatomy to delivering a bespoke training programme.
Advanced Anatomy & Physiology for Health & Exercise
In this module, you will develop a strong understanding of how the human body works and responds to exercise, which you can apply to training your clients. You will also learn how to guide clients through flexibility and stretching movements.
Nutritional Principles
Here you will expand your knowledge of nutrition and its importance in a physical activity programme. You will cover a range of dietary requirements and how to adapt your programmes to these clients.
Personal Training Delivery
Covering techniques to develop client motivation, this module will help you deliver an effective and dynamic personal training session that meets your client’s specific goals.
Programming Training Sessions
You’ll learn how to design personal training sessions with individual client needs in mind. This includes considerations for clients from special populations such as those with disabilities, as well as covering how to train clients outside of a gym environment.
Demonstrating Leadership
As a personal trainer, you will be a source of motivation for your clients! This module will help you develop your ability to lead by example and be the trusted advisor and support figure that your clients need.
Learning the Business
This module will cover all you need to know about the business of being a personal trainer, from how to market yourself to creating a successful and sustainable business model.
How You’ll Be Assessed
You will need to complete a series of assessments to finish the Level 4 Personal Training course.
The qualification’s practical assessments are held at different venues across Ireland, all of which are easily accessible by public transport. The assignments you complete will vary depending on the study method you choose.
Course Assessments
Students studying online will need to complete the following assessments to qualify as a Level 4 Personal Trainer.
- Multiple choice open book online exam on anatomy and physiology – 90% pass mark required
- Multiple choice open book online exam on the application of nutrition – 90% pass mark required
- Practical assessment on delivering a customised personal training programme - Pass required
- Coursework on programming with clients, intelligent goals, client screening and progressive overview - Pass Required

How You'll Learn
OriGym’s Level 4 Personal Training course can be studied online.
This means that you can choose a study at a pace that reflects your needs best and fits your qualification around any existing commitments.
Online Learning
Online learning is one of the most popular ways of gaining a Level 4 Personal Trainer qualification through OriGym.
The average student completes the online personal trainer course in 8 weeks. But there are no deadlines allowing you to study at your own pace. This level of flexibility makes it ideal for those with existing commitments to work around, such as employment, childcare or university studies.
Online students will learn via our award-nominated E-learning platform where you will study modules via videos, online lectures, quizzes and more. Throughout your learning experience, you’ll be supported by OriGym’s expert tutors who’ll provide advice and guidance on course materials.
After graduating with your Level 4 Personal Training qualification you’ll be eligible to attain Level 4 status and will be fully prepared to secure a respected position as a qualified personal trainer, making a difference to your clients' physical and mental health through exercise and nutrition.
