Written and developed by a combination of experienced strength & conditioning coaches and personal trainers, this qualification covers the principles of bodyweight training. This includes how to apply this approach to different demographics, as well as basic & advanced techniques you can incorporate into your client's sessions.

Body Weight CPD

With OriGym's internationally-recognised bodyweight course, you’ll be able to build your programmes and workouts around your client's own body weight. You will also learn how to make exercises both progressive and regressive, applicable to all abilities.

  • Course Length: 2 Weeks (Average)
  • Entry Requirements: Students must be aged 16 and over with a Level 3 Gym Instructor qualification.
  • Accreditations: Our CPD courses are recognised by PD Approval.
  • Cost: €150.79 for the single course or for just €570 for a bundle of 6.
  • Study Method: This course is studied online via OriGym's multi-award nominated training platform, using a combination of videos, quizzes, online lectures, and interactive eLearning.

Assessment: To pass the Body Weight Training CPD course, you need to complete a number of virtual quizzes at the end of each module using OriGym’s eLearning platform

Body Weight Training CPD

When studying towards OriGym’s Bodyweight course, the following modules will be covered:

Introduction to Body Weight Exercises

The introduction to this course begins with the history of body weight training as well as the benefits of integrating it into workouts. You’ll also learn about the different types of training, including modifications & adaptations for weighted exercise.

Cardiovascular and Core Exercises

You will learn a range of cardiovascular and core exercises to include in training sessions, from hip twists to diagonal mountain climbers.

Chest and Back Exercises

In this module, you will be taught a variety of different pushup exercises as well as how to correctly perform back workouts such as pull-ups and inverted rows.

Quadricep and Hamstring Exercises

You will study various quadriceps and hamstring exercises to focus on training the legs, including squats, lunges, and leg curls.

Shoulder and Gluteal Exercises

During this module, you’ll cover many advanced arm and push-up exercises as well as various leg exercises to activate the gluteal muscles.

Tricep and Bicep Exercises

This module introduces a series of different exercises to strengthen the upper arms, from dips and extensions to curls.

Body Weight CPD Careers Progression

Completing a CPD bodyweight course will open up new professional opportunities and allow you to market yourself as an expert within this particular field. 

If you've already completed a Level 3 Gym Instructor course, you can begin to integrate the skills and knowledge you've acquired into your fitness classes, leading attendees through sessions that incorporate their own bodyweight. 

You can also combine your body weight training certification with a career as a PT, by completing our Level 4 Personal Trainer Course. In doing so, you will be able to offer your clients both private and group classes that specifically focus on this training method. 

Following this, you can explore OriGym's Advanced Level 5 Fitness Courses, all of which will allow you to develop further skills and advance within the industry.

All students must be aged 16+ and have their Level 3 Fitness Instructor Qualification prior to enrolling on this course.

Like all of OriGym's CPD qualifications, our Bodyweight course is recognised by PD Approval and is also approved by REPs Ireland. 

As an online qualification you can work through the Bodyweight course at your own pace. Whilst it can be completed in as little as 12 hours, on average students take 2 weeks!

Using OriGym’s e-learning platform you will need to complete virtual quizzes and assessments at the end of each module!

OriGym offers FREE unlimited resists, so you can retake your assignments until you pass.

This course is designed to teach fitness professionals how to incorporate body weight training into their routines, through the study of modules such as:

Jessica is a track sprint cyclist specialising in the keirin and has represented her country at the Asian Games and recent 2020 Olympics. Jessica choose OriGym to study her Personal Training course and specialist Level 5 in Nutrition course after being recommended by friends.
